I am the perfect example of good intentions not executed as intended! I’m laughing at myself because I started this blog weeks ago and this is only my second post. Well, maybe I’ll explain my “why” behind blogging to begin with.
I am a working mom of three, poor at self-care, sub-par at making time for personal priorities, who just happens to be on an amazing adventure with my husband and kiddos. This “adventure” is not a trip, a lifestyle change, anything earth shattering or even fully planned out. We are living in an RV and barn on a ten acre farm that started out as completely raw land, a dream and a tight budget with prayer as a line item!
Even prior to the adventure when life seemed pretty average and normal, I was having a difficult time keeping up with everything that was happening in our daily life. Can anyone relate?! I also work with older adults and have heard their wise advice more times that I could count: “enjoy it while they’re young, it goes so fast”. That is an understatement! And I was rarely able to find time to scrapbook or journal the sweet thing my toddler said, the big moment my preschooler had during the musical, or the cute pictures of my oldest girl’s birthday party or horse camp. Other than frequent social media posts to share a glimpse of the chaos with family, I felt like I would quickly forget much of what was happening if I didn’t document it. I work in healthcare and we say “if you didn’t document it, it didn’t happen”. In the case of my fast paced blur of a life, I have to admit that if I don’t document it, I likely won’t remember half of it!
So that’s what I’m here for, to put into words what happens every day. To take the time to appreciate the little things. To reflect on those breathtaking moments just a little deeper and longer. While we are living on a farm, waiting for the stars to align and the finances to fall into place so we can build our dream farmhouse in the very spot that we have already made a home. I intend to share this blog with family and friends, especially since I’ve divorced social media and live far from many of them. If you’ve read this entire post I’d love to hear from you! And if you read my first post you’ll get to follow along while I figure out what and how much I should write. I’m happy to share all the little and big things, and hope to get into the habit of doing it here.
